There has been a water main break on the feeder line to Harsens Island. Clay Township Water Deptartment is working on the problem, but if the break is more than 12 feet deep, the break won't be fixed until tomorrow.
If I get anymore news I will post immediately and would appreciate posts from others if they hear something.

This is not good!
You're right, this is NOT good!
However, shouldn't they have used the county alert system to let us know? I mean, that's what it's there for, right? It's very frustrating to come home from work only to find out there is no water. Knowing ahead of time would have allowed me to make some decisions earlier rather than last-minute.
Interesting! Look what I just received at 8:39am:
Select Alert is a public notification system for the Citizens of St. Clair County
BOIL WATER 5-17-2012
BOIL WATER 5-17-2012
FOR ALL HARSENS ISLAND RESIDENTS THE CLAY TWP DPW IS STILL WORKING ON THE BROKEN WATER MAIN. WHEN THE WATER IS TURNED BACK ON YOU WILL HAVE TO BOIL YOUR WATER AT LEAST UNTIL FRIDAY 5-18-2012 FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE GIVEN THEN
How can I receive Select Alerts???
Freddy, I'm looking for the link right now but I can't seem to find it. If I find it I will post it right away.
Update at 9:19am:
BOIL WATER UPDATE
THE BOIL WATER ALERT IS FOR HARSENS ISLAND ONLY AND DOES NOT EFFECT THE MAINLAND. THE WATER IS OUT ON HARSENS ISLAND FOR AT LEAST THREE MORE HOURS. WHEN WATER COMES BACK ON HARSENS ISLAND RESIDENTS ARE TO BOIL WATER UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
To sign up for the St. Clair County Select Alert system, go to:
http://stclaircounty.org/selectalert/login.aspx
Once you have completed the login process and filled out your account information, click on the Edit My Alerts tab and select the alerts you wish to receive.
From my past experience, the Phone alerts didn't seem to work too well, but I always get the Email alerts (sent to multiple email addresses).
Good luck, everyone.
