Ferry & Ice Conditions Update

Only 5 miles of ice upriver from the ferry.

Per David Bryson, Champion's will POSSIBLY be able to run tomorrow!

Thats the message from the ferry earlier this am. Nothing is going to happen unless the ice moves out of the North Channel. Unfortunately the CG is working the other channels because the freighter traffic gets priority. And since it is going to be cold again tonite, I dont see anything changing. Is the ice even moving by the ferry? Bottom line the other channels can be clear, but if its still by the ferry then what? 5 miles is still alot of ice when its like this.

I find it interesting that when we had ice problems a month ago, the CG made it a point to work the North Channel, and screw up the ferry, etc. Because they said they had to. Now when we need them they arent there. Im just curious if anyone else notices this?

When I went over this evening the ice was moving and it looked pretty clear up North Algonac way ...and the USCG finally showed up near sunset!

Keep your fingers crossed, I'd cross my toes too, but they are still frozen!
